How do you practice self control?

Self control is not something you either have or don’t. Instead, it might be better to compare it to a muscle. You can “work it out” to help increase your ability to have self control. Of course, there are times where it is easier, and times that are harder to have self control. That said, what are things you do to practice it, to help yourself gain more self control?
